I know the reason why most if not all of those Confederate statues were erected, especially the hundreds of statues that were put up in the 1950’s. It’s nothing more than the desire for white supremacists and those that cling to the need to hate others impose their will on the whole community. The excuse that removing the statues well “erase history” is just a load of crap. Because if they were really concerned about history they’d make sure that the reasons behind the bloody Civil War, the accurate reasons, were taught in school.

Now if we could just outlaw the displaying of the Confederate Flag, much like Germany’s laws about displaying the Nazi Flag, then the clinging to the hatred that has poisoned this country might be lessened.
