Daily Comic Journal: September 7, 2020: “Pandemic Home Vacation – Again.”
For as long as I can remember, I LOVE looking at maps. I have no idea why, what the attraction is, but I can spend hours just looking through volumes of atlases. Because of that, that’s why I enjoy planning out trips and vacations. Especially when I plan on driving to my destinations. This week, I’d have been on the road, traveling to those spots I talk about on the comics, but I’m not going to whine about it. I mean, there are many, many people who have suffered and died since this pandemic began. So far, I’ve been fortunate not to have been exposed to the virus.
If I have to choose either my health or some vacation, well, there’s really no contest.
My wife and I drive that route frequently (several times a year) to get to WNY. I’ve want to stop in Jamestown for the Lucy/Desi/Comedy museums for years, but we always have a deadline to meet (plus dogs in the car). One of these days ….
In the fall of 2018, before I started at Siemens and while I was out of work, The Comedy Center was holding a tribute to Ernie Kovacs. I’d loved to have seen it, but I wouldn’t have felt right taking a trip while unemployed.
