Daily Comic Journal: September 29, 2015: “Thank God For Whitey Bulger.”
I was really looking forward to this film. For the most part, if the history of gangster films and TV shows have shown us anything, when it’s done well we get “The Godfather“, “The Godfather II”, “Goodfellas” and “The Sopranos”. Even recently, we had some pretty good films dealing with gangsters and crime, from 2014 there’s “The Drop” and from 2015 “Run All Night”. But here we had a story based on an actual gangster, on actual people with a heck of a good cast and it just sits there. No real tension, no notable scenes.
It wasn’t horrible. Just disappointing.
(oh, and sorry about my Depp/Bulger drawing. It looked like him in the pencil stage but after I inked it… not so much.)
