Daily Comic Journal: October 2, 2017: “Thoughts And Prayers Aren’t Working Folks.”
These days, I think I’ve become more frustrated about the reactions to these shootings then the actual tragic outcomes.
Like most, I’m sure, when the powers that be in our legislature did NOTHING after the mass shooting at Sandy Hook in 2012, that the death of 20 six & seven year old children couldn’t move these selfish assholes to grow a backbone and use rationale and logic thought to prevent future deadly shootings, then there’s no reason to believe that they would do anything. Ever.
What gets me the most though, when these shootings occur, are the silence of the responsible gun owners. You would think that men and women, who own and treat these dangerous weapons with the conscientious care they require would be the loudest over those who abuse that power.
But nope. Their silence is deafening. When it comes to guns, I guess, as long as they can buy and own as many as they like, that’s all that matters.
Hi. I’m Canadian not American. I have no love for guns. At 60 years old I’ve fired a pellet gun maybe 20 times as a teenager and a 22 rifle less than 10 times over 40 years ago. The responsible gun owners don’t know the answer but shouldn’t be punished. Intense studies into how criminals get guns should be addressed and severely punish them. Look at Britain, no guns allowed and London’s murder rate went over New York’s in over a hundred years. Take away the guns and they’ll just use knives, swords, acid attacks etc. There’s a people problem, not a gun problem. I love your comic journal and the artwork is fantastic by the way. Big fan here.
