Another film this sort of reminds me of is “The Talented Mr. Ripley” where we the audience find ourselves enthralled with a very disturbed protagonist. Had we ever encountered this person in real life, we’d run away as quick as we could, yet as we watch them, with the safety of the knowledge that they’re fictional characters on the big screen, we can’t turn away.
