When my dad first passed away back in 2011 the first few Father’s Days were difficult. While I was drawing this it dawned on me because I’ve been drawing these comics for over 11 years many readers may have never read many of the early comics, like the one’s I drew in the spring of 2011 when my father got ill and passed away. Yes, many of those older comics are basically a drawing with a lot of text and I hadn’t found “my way” of proper comic storytelling and frankly, the drawings are at times raw, but I’d hate for them to be lost forever.

So if you’ve never read them and are interested, from the spring of 2011:

On March 18 I hear an update on my father’s health.

The news gets worse on March 23 and March 25.

Until I got the devastating news on March 29.

Over the next few days I covered my travel back home for the funeralthe day before, and then the funeral.

You may notice on the comics for March 30, 31 and April 1, I drew two comics for each day. I used to do that a lot in the early days of my comics when I felt I needed more room to tell the events of the day and many of the comics had a lot of text and less drawing.

I’m proud of my father and miss him a lot.
