When the original “Law & Order” (produced by Dick Wolf) began in the 1990’s I was a viewer from the 1st season onward. Eventually when the spinoffs began, i’d watch them too. My preference of shows went:

“Law & Order”

“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”

“Law & Order: SVU”

(The third spinoff, “Law & Order: Trial By Jury” didn’t last long enough to make much of an impression.)

“Law & Order: SVU” was never my favorite because, in my opinion, the sex crimes were repetitive. You can only twist the sex crime format so much before you start saying, “enough’s enough!” At least with the homicide crimes of the other two L&O’s there was usually a motive behind them. But with SVU the perps were just all sick.
