Daily Comic Journal: July 1, 2021: “Traveling Back In Time?”
I’ve been a runner and jogger my entire adult life. From my very late teens through my 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, to now, I’ve either run outside or, when the weathers bad, inside on a track or treadmill. It’s always been part of my DNA. So you’d think that I probably ran track or cross country in high school. Nope. I think the reason why I never participated in high school running sports is that I’ve always needed some sort of distraction while running. Music or talk radio or a sports telecast, anything to keep my mind off of the task at hand. The invention of the Walkman in 1979 was a came changer for me. I’d already graduated from high school and once I had that first walkman, along with a ton of mixed tapes filled with “Music-to-Run-To” tapes, I was ready to run. Just about everyday and everywhere. That’s why replacing this radio is so important to me.
I just wonder how long they’ll continue to make them.
Amazon has one (2.6″L x 0.9″W x 4.6″H) for $10 (50% off) if you don’t mind shopping there. Walmart on-line might be a source to pick up a spare or two to stick on that closet shelf for when this one dies. Just a thought.
