Daily Comic Journal: February 6, 2020: “A Cliffhanger That Lasted 47 Years.”
In my life, since I was a child, I’ve had three cartoonist/comic strips that were my favorites and idols. “Peanuts” by Charles Schulz, “Pogo” by Walt Kelly and “Dick Tracy” by Chester Gould. In the near ten years that I’ve been working on my comics, I’ve touched upon these three strips, a lot.
When writing about “Dick Tracy”, I inevitably have to talk about this excellent archive book collection of Gould’s entire run, published by IDW. They’ve been putting out volumes since 2012 and will finish it up sometime next year. It only makes sense, because I’ve been writing these comics during the entire run of these collected editions, these books have made appearances here.
I got Volume 7 for Christmas of 2010.
In October of 2013 I discuss the insidious Mr. Crime while reading volume 14.
I got Volume 15 for Christmas of 2013.
