Frankly, I think it’s the addition of the urinal that was really unneeded. I’ve been to public restrooms (like at Starbuck’s for example) that’s just a toilet & a sink*. When you use it, you lock it. Simple. Sure, it’s designed for just one person at a time, but that’s what it’s set up for. The same could be said for this Dunkin’ Donuts mens room, if they just didn’t have the unnecessary urinal.
*- And a shout out to all restaurants everywhere. If you’re just going to have a toilet and sink, DON’T designate it as a mens or women’s room. That way I won’t waste time waiting to go into the mens room even though the women’s room is empty.
I think female customers are likely to “suggest” to management that they have separate men’s and ladies’ rooms even if each has only a single toilet and sink. (Generalizing here, but there’s a kernel of truth…) Men can be distracted in rest rooms, and no woman wants to sit down on a toilet after a man has used it (usually by standing in front of it).
