Daily Comic Journal: December 29, 2021: “Gone, But Not Forgotten.”
As I drew this, I remembered at least two other friends who have passed away since I began these comics in 2010 (and if I recall correctly, I made note of it in my comics at the time). Their Facebook pages are still active on Facebook as well. I suppose a relative or friend could gave shut it down for them, though as long as it’s still there, maybe its as if they were still with us.
But the point I tried to make at the end of the comic is this. This concept of a social media site on the internet, where people write about themselves and their likes and dislikes plus post many many pictures is unlike anything we’ve ever had in the history of mankind. Lasting marks of a person’s life lasting in the ether, hanging in the internet, perhaps forever.
It boggles the mind.
It’s like having a cemetery plot people can visit without traveling.
