Daily Comic Journal: August 28, 2022: “Revisiting The Great One.”
While it’s true that Roberto Clemente was a great Major League Baseball Player and he may have even been a greater person one thing I’ve noticed because he died so young and so tragically and by doing something so humane that in the decades since Clemente has become somewhat of a mythical character, especially in Pittsburgh and Puerto Rico.
I have a baseball card of his from the mid-60s on which his name is “Bob Clemente” – I guess “Roberto” was thought to be too ethnic. It’s good you started following baseball in 1970 so you got to experience the 1971 season and his WS MVP performance.
