Daily Comic Journal: August 28, 2017: “The King’s Centennial.”
Yes, I know that Stan Lee wrote the dialogue and helped flesh out those characters, from the early days of Marvel Comics, the iconic figures we know today, but it was from the creative mind of Jack Kirby where they were born.
The legend goes, at one point during the mid 1960’s, that during one weekend alone, Jack created The Black Panther and The Inhumans! (the former getting it’s own movie in 2018 the latter it’s own TV series this year) That’s more popular characters in two days than some create in a lifetime!
With Kirby’s creative output in his lifetime it’s always bothered me that he never achieved the recognition that he deserved (not to mention the monetary rewards). In the world of entertainment his name should be as well known as Walt Disney.
