It seemed somewhat surreal to be walking into this building. Not only because it turned out to be the first successful interview I’ve had since getting laid off in January of 2015, but I remember often going to Spencer’s Gifts stores at the local malls as a kid in the 1960’s and 70’s. Seeing all the odd and off color products they sold when I’d visit their stores and seeing much of those same products on photos in their lobby. I didn’t know that their headquarters were here, just outside Atlantic City, but here it is.

You know, ever since my layoff, I was wondering how I would write/draw the comic that would announce that I’d finally gotten a job again. If this comic seems somewhat subdued, it’s only because I know it’s only a freelance job, only temporary. Now, if it should happen to turn into a full time position…. then I’ll really go nuts!
